Derzeit kursiert online eine Liste von seltsamen Gesetzen in den verschiedenen Bundesstaaten. Das reicht vom einem Halteverbot von Krokodilen in Badewannen (Arkansas) bis hin zu dem Verbot, nicht aus fliegenden Flugzeugen auszusteigen (Maine). In Minnesota müssen alle Badewannen Füße haben, in New Jersey darf man seine Suppe nicht schlürfen und in Iowa sollte man sich nicht länger als fünf Minuten küssen.
Einige Verbote und Gesetze werden sicherlich nicht mehr beachtet und verfolgt, sie stehen einfach noch in den Gesetzesbüchern. Und doch, für USA Reisende könnten sie dennoch interessant sein
Alabama – You may not have an ice cream cone in your back pocket at any time.
Alaska – Owners of flamingos may not let their pet into barber shops.
Arizona – Hunting camels is prohibited.

Connecticut – You can be stopped by the police for biking over 65 miles per hour.
Delaware – “R” rated movies shall not be shown at drive-in theaters.
Florida – It is illegal to skateboard without a license.
Georgia – It is illegal to use profanity in front of a dead body which lies in a funeral home or in a coroners office.
Hawaii – Coins are not allowed to be placed in one’s ears.
Idaho – Riding a merry-go-round on Sundays is considered a crime.
Illinois – Kites may not be flown within the city limits.
Indiana – “Spiteful Gossip” and “talking behind a person’s back” are illegal.
Iowa – Kisses may last for no more than five minutes.
Kansas – No one may catch fish with his bare hands.
Kentucky – One may not dye a duckling or other fowl blue and offer it for sale unless more than six are for sale at once.

Mississippi – Cattle rustling is punishable by hanging.
Missouri – Minors can buy rolling paper and tobacco but not lighters.
Montana – It is a felony for a wife to open her husband’s mail.
Nebraska – Sneezing or burping is illegal during a church service.
Nevada – It is illegal to lie down on the sidewalk.
New Hampshire – You may not run machinery on Sundays.
New Jersey – You may not slurp your soup.
New Mexico – You may not carry a lunchbox down Main Street.
New York – A fine of $25 can be levied for flirting.
North Carolina – It’s against the law to sing off key.
North Dakota – Beer and pretzels can’t be served at the same time in any bar or restaurant.
Ohio– It is illegal to fish for whales on Sunday.
Oklahoma – It is illegal to wear your boots to bed.
Oregon – Drivers may not pump their own gas.
Pennsylvania – Persons convicted of felonies may not operate Bingo games.
